Paint Correction Melbourne / Cut & Polish Service
Paint Correction, often referred to as Cut & Polish, is a detailed and labor-intensive process that requires the expertise of a skilled technician. At Detail Drive, we begin by thoroughly assessing your vehicle’s paint to determine the level of correction needed. Our process restores your vehicle’s finish by reducing/removing swirls and scratches thereby eliminating jagged edges in the clear coat. By doing this, we are levelling the paint allowing for better reflection and clarity.
We start with a comprehensive decontamination process, which includes using ph neutral chemicals to remove bonded contaminants from the paint. Next, we use a state-of-the-art paint thickness gauge to measure each panel, ensuring we have a precise understanding of how much paint is available to safely correct deeper imperfections.
Swirl marks, scratches, and other blemishes are carefully machine-polished using top-quality compounds and polishes. This process levels out the imperfections, restoring clarity and shine while permanently improving the overall appearance of your vehicle’s paintwork. Once corrected, your vehicle’s paint is perfectly prepped for any of our premium paint protection coatings.
At Detail Drive, we offer three distinct levels of paint correction, which will be recommended based on the condition of your vehicle’s paint following our detailed inspection.
-
Paint correction, also known as "cut and polish," is a machine polishing process that safely removes or reduces swirl marks, scratches, acid rain etching, and oxidation caused by improper washing, neglect, and poor maintenance. Using a variety of polishing machines, compounds, and pads, we restore your vehicle’s finish to near-new condition.
Not all paint is the same—some vehicles have thicker or harder paint than others. With years of experience, our technicians accurately assess the health of your car’s paint and determine the appropriate correction process to restore it safely and effectively.
-
Restore the shine and beauty of your vehicle’s exterior with Detail Drive, Melbourne’s trusted source for premium paint correction and detailing services. Our skilled technicians utilise a 3 different paint correction services to achieve outstanding results. We begin by thoroughly decontaminating and assessing your vehicle's paint before determining whether a single stage, 2-stage, or 3-stage correction is needed. This process eliminates imperfections such as scratches, swirls, and holograms, preparing the surface for optimal paint protection. Swirls and scratches are jagged edges on the surface of the clearcoat. Therefore any light trying to reflect off the paint is often caught/trapped giving off the illusion of a scratch and swirl.
-
Over time, neglect and lack of protection can leave your car’s paint vulnerable to contaminants like ion fallout, tree sap, road tar and paint etching, resulting in a rough surface and a dull appearance. At Detail Drive, we perform a decontamination process before any paint correction or protection service to ensure flawless results.
Step 1: Chemical Decontamination
This step lifts and removes stubborn environmental fallout, deep-cleaning the pores of your paint.Step 2: Mechanical Decontamination (Clay Bar)
We glide a lubricated clay bar over the surface to remove bonded contaminants, ensuring a clean and smooth foundation for further correction.
Proper preparation is the key to exceptional results!
